Smiths Authentic British Fish and Chips

Signboard caught my attention when C,L and myself were randomly looking for places to dine at.

We decided to hop in to see if it was really authentic!

Tried and Tested:

Dory Fish and Chips - $11.50
Rating: 7/10
The batter was crispy and the fillet well flavoured, but the fries wasn't very appealing to us due to the overly-starchy taste.

Haddock Standard (180-200gms Fillet) and Chips - $17
Rating: 6.5/10
Nothing impressive despite having to pay more, the Haddock version used the same batter as the Dory version. The texture of the haddock was also quite stiff and hence not really to our liking. =/

Overall : 6.5/10

The Good - Crispy and relatively well textured Dory Fish and Chips

The Bad - The more expensive Haddock paled in comparison. No Air-Conditioning in the Katong Branch

Probably won't be going back just for their Fish and Chips, as I'd rate "Fish and Co" as about the same standard. Worth a try if you're in the area though.

Tried and Tested:

Scandinavian - $24
Rating: 7/10
Nicely grilled salmon, crispy rosti topped with hollandaise sauce.

European - $18
Rating: 7.5/10
Two perfectly poached eggs! Simply Perfect!

English - $22
Rating: 8/10
Potatoes were slightly bland. Everything else was great, especially the scrambled eggs!!
(Ps: Do ask for butter and jam to go with the toasted brioche)

Tunisian - $18
Rating: 7/10
The tomato based stew was rich in flavor. Toasted brioche goes extremely well dipping into it!! Cucumber salsa was a refreshing contrast to the stew.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10
